AN EVENING RAINBOW ... Saturday January 28th, 2006 a rainbow appeared splendid in all its colors celebrating an event that occurred at Harcourt United Church on Dean Avenue in Guelph. The event was the SOLD OUT Spring Concert of the Rainbow Chorus of Waterloo / Wellington. The event with over 500 people in attendance was the largest crowd ever at the church. The first half was of lighter fair culminating in a chorus of New York New York where the choir is headed this February to perform at Carnegie Hall. The second half was a dress rehearsal of the Carnegie Hall Performance of the AIDS Requiem, "When We No Longer Touch". The entire performance was remarkable considering most the choir is made up of singers from the community who all have regular full time jobs. The accompanying four soloists and musicians helped bring the work to life. The recital ended with a rousing 15 minute standing ovation. I cannot say enough about the evening and the dedication of the choir as they have performed at numerous benefits throughout the community as well. Most of the members reside in the Guelph, Kitchener and surrounding areas. Some come every week from as far as Mt. Forest and London to participate in song. Kudos to the board of directors and artistic director, Robert Miller for all their hard work. You have indeed outdone yourselves and should be very PROUD. Who says we have to go to Toronto to have the opportunity to listen to Carnegie Hall caliber music? Good luck on your trip to Carnegie Hall in NYC. BREAK A LEG. (Sumitted by A.O'Ball)
