BROADWAY ... the great white way ...

I have many great memories of New York. One of them is lining up for tickets to a Broadway play at the TKTS booth in Times Square. Disie asked the ticket seller, “What’s cheap?” and he replied as a typical New Yorker “Everybody in this line!”. I saw my first Broadway play, “Woman in White”.
We visited the Empire State Building and of course the World Trade Center site. We took the uptown tour bus but wouldn’t get off at any of the attractions. It was too cold!! Betsy the tour guide said we should be used to the cold living in Canada! I loved walking through Grand Central Station very early in the morning. Most of all I loved the rehearsals. They were very intense but a lot of fun. We laughed and we cried. I learned so much in those six hours and what a thrill stepping on to the stage of Carnegie Hall with the wonderful tenors from Denver and Calgary all around me. Jan Baker.
